How InstantFile works
1. Choose a file
Click the upload button or drag a file onto the page. Any file type works, from documents and photos to videos and zip archives, up to 1GB.
2. Upload straight to storage
Your browser sends the file directly to our storage over an encrypted HTTPS connection. You can watch the progress bar while it uploads.
3. Share the link
When the upload finishes you get a unique link. Copy it and send it by email, chat or text. Anyone with the link can download the file for the next 24 hours.
Why use a temporary file transfer?
Email attachments usually stop at 20-25MB, and cloud drives keep files around long after anyone needs them. When you just need to hand a file to someone once, a short-lived link is simpler and leaves less behind.
No account needed
There is no sign-up, no email confirmation and no app to install. Open the page, upload and share.
Up to 1GB per file
Big enough for high-resolution photos, design files, presentation videos and project archives that are too large for email attachments.
Deleted after 24 hours
Files are temporary by design. They are removed automatically a day after upload, so nothing lingers in a forgotten folder.
Private, hard-to-guess links
Each link contains a random identifier, so files are not listed or searchable. Only people you give the link to can find them.
Frequently asked questions
- Is InstantFile really free?
- Yes. Uploading and downloading are free and there are no paid tiers or hidden limits beyond the 1GB file size.
- How long are my files available?
- Files stay available for 24 hours after upload. After that they are deleted permanently and the link stops working.
- Who can download my file?
- Anyone who has the link. Links are not published anywhere, so treat the link like a key and share it only with the people who need it.
- Can I delete a file before 24 hours?
- Not yet. If you uploaded something by mistake or need a file removed early, contact us with the link and we will remove it.
- What files are not allowed?
- Do not upload illegal content, malware, or material you do not have the right to share. See our Terms of Service for details.
- Should I use this instead of cloud storage?
- InstantFile is for one-off transfers. For files you need to keep, edit together or access for months, a cloud drive is the better tool.
